As NYT Games, does not provide an officially-supported API for, the pack instead requires the user to provide their own cookie which will allow them to fetch their own results. This cookie should have a lifetime of about a year, after which a new connection with a new cookie will need to be configured in order to continue pulling in results.
To pull in your data as set up in this doc, click the Copy doc button in the top right. If you are on crossword.arpanlaha.com, you will need to navigate to the alternate URL at
tables are configured to pull in data starting from the earliest attempts on my account, and if you make your own copy you’ll want to adjust the starting and/or end dates accordingly. Fetching data may take some time, with roughly 5 rows fetched per second in my testing.
Fetching your cookie
These instructions are written for Google Chrome, and I recommend installing an ad-blocker to filter out spurious requests.
Open the filter menu by clicking on the funnel icon and select the Fetch/XHR filter as shown below:
Reload the website.
Click into any of the results for which the Status column shows 200.
Within the result, navigate to the Headers tab and scroll down to the Cookie field in the Request Headers section.
In the cookie result, look for the part of the cookie starting with NYT-S= (case-insensitive) and copy the text immediately after that point until the next semicolon (or the end of the cookie if there is no subsequent semicolon).
Paste this cookie when prompted to enter your API token for the Crossword Pack.
The cookie will be stored securely in Coda’s connection system, but make sure not to paste it anywhere else to keep it safe.
